A Shade of Burgundy

I haven’t been shopping in quite some time and decided to check the ol’ marketplace out. It came to no surprise that I ended up in the change room with a huge pile of clothes. I knew it would terribly put a damper on my bank account, so I stood in the change room and painfully picked out the pieces which I was in love with the most. I ended up leaving H&M with only TWO pieces of clothing. Here is one of those pieces:

  • Burgundy Overalls: H&M
  • Shoes: Forever 21
  • Sunglasses: Aldo

The light weight of these overalls definitely is an advantage. During the hot summer days, it can be difficult to rock classic denim overalls due to the thickness of the fabric. I’ve gone for a very relaxed look, but you can easily dress these overalls up. This piece is very versatile; overalls are definitely a staple item for your wardrobe.

Until next time!

Wish I Had a Time Machine!

The world of fashion has taken a step back into an earlier decade! The 90’s have snuck their way back into our lives once again. Who didn’t love the 90s? Life seemed much simpler back then. Let’s be real, who didn’t want to live in the world of Friends? It would be great to live in an era where technology wasn’t everything, and one would meet their friends at a nice coffee shop to hang out and catch up. Alas, that is not the world we live in today. But traveling back in time is not difficult through FASHION!

This look was inspired a bit by the 90s, more specifically, high waisted ripped mom jeans. Mouthful, am I RIGHT?! Nonetheless, I paired these jeans with a retro-esk red striped sweater and accessorized accordingly.

  • Jeans: TopShop (“Mom High Waisted”)
  • Sweater: H&M
  • Hat: H&M
  • Sunglasses: Aldo

I did not list all of the makeup I used, just a few products I thought were worth mentioning.

  • Foundation: L’Oreal Infallible Pro-Matte (“105-Natural Beige”)
  • Lips: NYX Liquid Suede Cream Lipstick (“Vintage”)
  • Contour: Sleek  Face Contour Kit (“Medium 885”)
  • Highlight: Becca (“Champagne Pop”) & MAC (Soft & Gentle)
  • Mascara: L’Oreal Voluminous Butterfly Sculpt (“Black”)

Until next time!

Fashion Show Vibes

March 31st I attended a fashion show in Hamilton, Ontario. It was organized by Style at Mac, which is a club at McMaster University, for which I am a trend blogger. This show is an annual event showcasing fashion from across the city. This year it was held at the Cotton Factory, which continues to be a historic complex in the city. The Cotton Factory was formerly a cotton mill in the early twentieth century and now is the center for creativity. It’s historic and authentic atmosphere makes for one impeccable venue. The fashion show showcased designers such as: “White Elephant”, “Josette Cacino” and “Mendocino”. I decided to escape my norm of wearing all black all the time and went with a light grey bodycon dress. I KNOW, WHAT A DIFFERENCE. FROM BLACK TO GREY :O Spring is here and I’ve got to open myself up to a bit more colour! Nothing crazy of course, but grey is a great start.

For makeup, I went all out! If you know me you know I do not apply foundation often but I pulled out my fave, NARS Sheer Glow in Syracuse. It started with foundation and ended with highlighter by Becca in Champagne Pop and everything in between. I am talking contour, eyeshadow, THE WHOLE SHABANG 😛 The only thing I was missing were my false eyelashes. But they decided not to work with me so well, so I tossed them aside. For the lips, I went BOLD with Kat Von D’s Everlasting LipStick in Echo. This Lipstain does not budge but can be drying. So I suggest using Mac’s lip primer prior to applying the stain.  Not too many pictures were taken that night, unfortunately, but this is what I did manage to take. Hope you enjoy:

I paired the dress with my black platform booties from Forever 21. I showcased my boots in one of my previous blog posts titled “Something Different”.

Throwback to A Wondrous Winter

Surprisingly winter was not the most dreadful. Usually, Toronto has unforgiving winters but this year was a tad different. We definitely had our storms and below zero weather but we have SURVIVED! Like the weather, fashion continues for 365 days a year. This is a throwback to when Toronto was hit with a storm and we decided to do a rather spontaneous photo shoot. We came up with this semi-formal look for men:

  • Shirt: Tommy Hilfiger
  • Jeans: Express
  • Tie: Tommy Hilfiger
  • Jacket: Haggar Clothing
  • Shoes: Steve Madden

Until next time!

Obsessed with Overalls

Hi hi!

New obsession: overalls.

I am absolutely in love with overalls and cannot wait to get more. Overalls are super comfortable and a key piece of clothing everyone should have in their wardrobe. You can easily dress it up with overalls or keep it casual. Overalls are very versatile and work for every season. Whether you are pairing it up with a crop top or a sweater, it will look amazing regardless. Whenever travelling is the case, I always go comfortable and pull out my favourite pair. I decided to wear my denim overalls with one of my favourite band t-shirts.

  • Overalls: Forever 21
  • T-shirt: H&M

IMG_4592IMG_4577IMG_4583IMG_4562I decided to keep the makeup quite simple and fresh with a nude-ish pink lip:

Until next time!

Something Different

Summer has quickly left me and I do not like it one bit! I am not too eager for the infamous Canadian winter season. But before I jump too ahead of myself, autumn is still ahead of us. One of the few things which I do look forward to in autumn are the darker lip colours. This look was inspired by the autumn months and my fascination with block heeled platform sandals. Enjoy:

  • Black Jeans: American Eagle Outfitters
  • Grey Tee: Hollister
  • Heels: Forever 21
  • Black Purse: Michael Kors (Mini Selma Crossbody)
  • Lipstick: Lasting Finish by Kate Moss in “30”

The April

A couple months ago, I became sooo obsessed with the TV show Parks and Recreation! I became very attached to the characters (as any mega fan would) and have been re-watching older episodes ever since the series finale premiered. By watching this show I discovered my “spirit animal”, April Ludgate. This character is played by the ever so talented and amazing, Aubrey Plaza, and I have realized I resemble April’s personality a tad too well. She is this sarcastic and apathetic individual whose dead pan comedy is just perfection. April loves to portray herself as this person who just does not care about anything or anyone, but as you watch the show, you soon realize she does care about very few thing and key people. She has a tough outer shell, but truly cares about the people she loves. April also has an amazing fashion sense, which really develops throughout the seven years.

I fell in love with the look below (S06E04) and recreated it:aprils-yellow-polka-dot-shirt-blue-skirt

She’s wearing a yellow and white blouse, a blue skirt and topped with a yellow cardigan.

  • Yellow and white striped top
  • Blue skirt: Forever 21
  • Yellow cardigan: Forever 21
